helpful tip of the day #1

i'm doing laundry right now at 2:13 am. i just took a load out of the dryer and started folding them when i came across my favorite pair of shorts - my a&f khaki shorts. i noticed that one of the pockets seemed to have stains. upon further investigation, i discovered the remnants of a stick of chewing gum all over the inside of the pocket. needless to say, i freaked out.

so what do you do in that situation? well, i first try picking at the gum, but to no avail. then, i googled a solution to my problem and found this site: http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Gum-from-Clothes. however, many of the methods listed just seemed too time-consuming, complicated, unpractical, and unsuitable for 2 am activities (especially when i'm trying not to wake up my mom). furthermore, some of the materials required were not available to me. i ended up trying the vinegar method by drenching the pocket and vinegar and scrubbing it with a toothbrush. i made some headway in removing the gum with this method, but it did not seem to be a very efficient method (although i just realized that i was supposed to heat up the vinegar...oops).

at this point, you're probably wondering why i'm rambling on and on about my gum-removing adventure. i know that there seems to be no end to this story and it might be one of those stories where you just want to respond..."cool story, bro!". however, i think removing gum from clothing is a real problem that you might have to deal with at some point, so here is my solution.... i finally just tried using handwashing soap and scrubbing with a toothbrush. it worked like magic!! the gum was removed within seconds! that is the magic solution, which wasn't even LISTED on the site when it should've probably been the first method provided. anyway, i hope this will prove to be helpful to you one day =).

my hands are dry and smell like vinegar...time to go to bed... good night!
